Write a commentNewry, Mourne and Down District Council are hosting a Newry District Electoral Area (DEA) public meeting on 24 November 2016 at 7pm in Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, Newry.
This meeting is themed around Safety in your community and you will have the opportunity to have your say on local issues across the Newry DEA. Representatives from the PSNI and Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) will be in attendance. There will also be an opportunity for you to share your views on current local policing arrangements.
Representatives from O2 and Home Secure will be in attendance to provide practical advice and guidance staying safe in your home and online and on helpful tips on placing security settings on tablets and phones.
Chairperson of the Newry DEA Forum, Councillor Liz Kimmins said, “The DEA public meetings which take place throughout the year in the Newry District Electoral Area provide the public with the opportunity to discuss local issues affecting local people, directly with Council and its statutory partners. As the theme of the meeting is Safety in your community, residents will be given the opportunity to discuss policing and safety issues directly with your local councillors, local Police teams and officials from the PCSP. Newry DEA has issues different to those in other DEAs as it is unique with a predominantly urban area. It is important that the comments put forward at this meeting reflect all of Newry DEA. Also, the PSNI will give practical advice on what we can do to stay safe in our homes as we enter the Christmas season”.
