Newry man Francis McMullen ran the Dublin Marathon back in October and raised a fantastic £6336 for the Macmillan unit at Craigavon Hospital. Francis had been a patient of the unit in the past.
Francis and his partner Edel McMahon presented a cheque recently to staff nurse Ann-Maria Thomas at the unit at Craigavon.
A representative from the Southern Trust said "The Southern Trust would like to express their sincere appreciation to Francis Mc Mullen from Newry for his exceptional generosity towards the Macmillan unit.
"Despite having been a patient himself, Francis participated in the Dublin Marathon and raised an incredible £6336 for the cause.
"His selfless spirit and unwavering dedication are truly inspirational and deserving of recognition."
