MLA Aoife Finnegan has called for prompt action to resolve ongoing sewerage problems at Chapel View, Crossmaglen where residents have been dealing with blocked manholes, sanitation difficulties and instances of sewage affecting private property.
The Newry and Armagh MLA has requested clarification from NI Water on outstanding works, infrastructure commitments and the steps needed to bring the situation to a conclusion.
"Residents are continuing to deal with very difficult conditions, and there needs to be clear communication and action to resolve these issues," said Finnegan.
An on-site meeting with NI Water and the Department for Infrastructure has been requested for the following week. "Chapel View residents deserve reliable services and it's important we find a positive resolution," Ms Finnegan added. "I will continue to work with all agencies to help bring this issue to a resolution."
Sinn Féin Councillor Martin Hearty also commented on the situation, saying: "This has been a difficult time for residents, and it's important that the relevant agencies work together to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."
While some work has already been carried out at the site, residents continue to experience difficulties, and both the MLA and Cllr Hearty have indicated they will keep pressing the relevant agencies until the matter is fully resolved.
