Detectives from the Police Service, who launched a murder investigation, following the death of a man in Newry on Saturday 28 June, have named the deceased as 40-year-old Igors Gavrilovs.
A fifty year old woman was arrested at the time and today 1 July Zivile Geringiene was charged with murder when she appeared before Newry Magistrates Court.
Detective Inspector Sean Armstrong, said: “A murder investigation was launched, after a report was received that a man had sustained a serious injury in the Fisher Park area of the city.
“Before being taken to hospital, Igors received medical treatment at the scene by emergency services, but sadly, he later died from his injuries.
The area around Fisher Park has been cleared of vegetation since the incident.
