Business people with Newry connections are well represented in todays Sunday Times 2013 Ireland Richlist.
Martin Naughton and Lord Ballyedmond took 7th and 8th place respectively with a joint worth of over £1.7 Billion putting them both well ahead of any of the other Newry entries.
Dundalk born Martin who established Glen Electric in Newry along with four colleagues in 1973 takes the lead in the Richlist at number 7 with a total worth of £869 Million. In 2012 he was placed with a total of £699 Million.
Next in line is Lord Ballyedmond founder of Norbrook Laboratories, who made number 8 on the list with £860 Million, an increase of £210 Million since last year!
Gerard O'Hare owner of The Quays Shopping and Leisure took joint 52nd place in the list with a value of £150 Million.
Brian Conlon of First Derivatives, who have their Head Office in Canal Quay in Newry increased his sum to £54 Million, up from £42 Million last year to put him joint 153rd place in the list.
Ciaran Murdock of Murdock Builders Merchants came in joint 186th on the list with a sum of £45 Million.
John Boyle of Boylesports took joint 195th place with £43 Million.
Owners of the Newry Democrat Lord and Lady Kilclooney with £40 Million took joint 207th place.
