Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area has been pipped at the post by Lisburn and Castlereagh Borough Council as the "happiest place" in NI although apparantly locally we scored really well in our personal sense of wellbeing!

It appears though we just aren't quite as happy as our friends 30 miles up the road. Perhaps it's just because their capital city has the beautiful Wallace Park to walk around while pondering the meaning of life, love and happiness. (Can feel a Brian Kennedy song coming on...)
It's the results of the Royal Mail "Happiness Index" published today, part of a study they commissioned throughout NI, England, Scotland and Wales.
All 11 local authorities were looked at. Although the top five had a similar result overall, Lisburn and Castlereagh topped the list, thanks to it's low level of carbon emissions and good access to health services.
Criteria included Personal well-being, Life expectancy, Earnings, Inequality, Carbon emissions, Crime, Deprivation and access to health services.
Newry, Mourne and Down did score particularly well though on a reported sense of personal well-being.
