The 2014 Newry Style City was launched yesterday at Berling Boutique on the Mall in Newry yesterday.

It really is time to pack away your winter woollies and spring into a new season with the return of Style City. The full week of events will see fun, fashionable events in venues across the area. 

Dedicated followers of fashion will have a field day with stylish events right across Newry from Saturday 5th April to Sunday 13th April 2014.  The photo-shoots are complete, the venues are ready and the shops are just bursting at the seams with stunning pieces to help you turn heads this spring/summer season.  With a series of free and ticketed events catering for all tastes and styles there is something for everyone during Newry’s most fashionable week of the year. 

The week kicks off on Saturday 5th April in Buttercrane Shopping Centre with ‘Spring Style Event’ showcasing the best of this season’s Family Fashion and ‘must have’ accessories for your home with the chance to WIN BIG in the Spring Style Challenge. Buttercrane’s ‘Street Style Spotter’ is also back. The search for the most stylish shopper will be decided by the public on Buttercrane’s Facebook Page with winner walking away with £100 Gift Card. There will also be an opportunity for stylish mums to pick up a host of prizes at the annual ‘Yummy Mummy Style’ competition on Saturday 5thApril and Sunday 6th April between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at The Fun House in Greenbank Ind Est.

On Tuesday 8th April there will be very stylish events for young ‘fashionistas’ at Sticky Fingers Early Years Art House on Monaghan Street including ‘My Doll has Nothing to Wear’ from 3.30-4.30pm. 

The fun continues on Thursday 10th April with ‘Canapes, Cupcakes and Cocktails’ in Jack Murphy Jewellers from 6pm-8pm. This event kick starts a VAT Free promotion. As well as a presentation of diamonds flown in from Antwerp for the event there will be a chance to win a 0.5ct diamond worth £1,000.

At 7.30pm on 10th April you can also head to McEvoy’s Drapery for an in house fashion show with all proceeds going to Southern Area Hospice and Marie Curie. On Friday 11th April ‘Our Lady’s Past Pupils Union will be hosting a fabulous fashion show in the Canal Court Hotel with tickets available by calling  0792 7674 500 or contacting the school or members of the PPU.

On Saturday 12th April all fashion trails lead to the shopping centres. The Quays Shopping Centre will be hosting a “Living Dolls Fashion Event” from 1:00pm – 4:00pm with fashion shows throughout the day, style tips, competitions and more. Buttercane Shopping Centre will also be hosting ‘Buttercrane Wedding Fayre’ with advice and ideas on everything you need for your special day.

The week will close with the return of last year’s sell out event- the ‘Fashion High Tea’ in the Canal Court Hotel on Sunday 13th April. This chic afternoon event has limited availability and will see professional models showcase fashion from local boutiques and designers with hair and makeup by Sabino and the Make Up Pro Store at The Quays. Tickets are available by contacting the Hotel.
