Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew caught up with the Newry Trad Youth Orchestra recently during rehearsals for her forthcoming ‘Magical Evening of Music and Mystery’ in Newry Town Hall.
Chairperson Mulgrew spoke of her pleasure in meeting up with the orchestra and seeing them in action during rehearsals.
The orchestra, which consists of 40 musicians, will play for a total of 45 minutes. They are all in their late teens or early twenties and come from Counties Armagh and Down”.
Cllr Mulgrew commented “These young, traditional musicians are incredibly talented and committed and I am looking forward to seeing them perform again on the evening of the Concert alongside David Meade and Accolade Choir. The Concert will be the first to be staged in Newry Town Hall since its major refurbishment and I know the setting, along with these three acts, will make for an excellent evening and help raise money for my three nominated charities, Davina’s Ark, Mental Health Forum and Women’s Aid”.
