To celebrate St Patricks Day the annual parade will come through Newry on Sunday the 17th of March led by 'St Patrick' himself along with a multitude of other activities and events taking place all across Newry throughout the day.
The parade will begin at 1pm on Sunday from the Albert Basin side of the Quays shopping centre and will make its way to Merchants Quay, Sugar Island and finally ending at The Mall, there will be many fun things to do and see thoroughout the day with many musicians and bands as well as the Cloughmór Ceili Band.
On top of that other events include kids’ arts and crafts and an open Ceili dance for all.
Talking about the many events taking place on Sunday, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Arts Development Manager Jacqueline Barker said “We have two stages on Hill Street, we have McClelland Park and all the activities there including the dinosaur and mini golf for children to enjoy and family and music activities all weekend”

“We’re very much looking forward to our St Patricks activities this weekend in Newry, we’re going to start with our parade from the shopping centre, that will be led by St Patrick of course and also by our chair Cllr Valerie Harte”.
There will be two stages in the city centre, one in Margaret Square and one in Marcus Square with live music.
There are many groups going to be taking part and performing in the St Patricks day parade, groups such as Kids in Control which is a creation of Beat Carnival who try to inspire through carnival arts, there is also Belfast India Drums who are going to be playing some Dohl Drums which is a pair of Punjabi drums.
Irish Dancing group Scoil Rince O’Dowd will have 20 dancers dancing their hearts out, the Dromintee GAA club will also be attending the celebrations along with almost 50 players volunteers and members of the club. Roar Roar Dinosaur will be there so children will be able to meet baby dinosaurs along with their keepers and later in the day children will also get the chance to get up close to the baby dinos.
The Mersey Beatles also take to the Newry Town Hall stage on St Patrick's night for a night of Liverpudlian nostalgia.
The St Patricks day parade will no doubt be an extraordinary event that will be filled to the brim with fun, colour, music, and good vibes. It is a wonderful event that will bring much excitement and fun to Newry. You definitely won’t want to miss out on all these extremely fun and interesting activities for both adults and children so make sure to come down and join in on the festivities and have a wonderful time.
