As part of his visit, the Secretary of State was taken on a tour of MJM Marine’s 100,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility which specialises in bespoke joinery, metalwork, carpet and upholstery for the cruise industry. Mr Heaton-Harris was interested in how MJM Marine, Mivan and Topglass have recovered from the pandemic to remain among some of the biggest global players in the construction industry.

Rathbane Group Director Conleth McConville said: “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to host Mr Heaton-Harris at Rathbane Group Head office in Newry. It is great to know we have the support of government after the last few challenging years as we continue to regrow the businesses. We were able to showcase the best of what Northern Ireland can offer in terms of local employment and global output in the marine and construction industries and also have the opportunity to discuss with him the challenges felt by many businesses here such as the skills and labour shortage, supply chain constraints and Brexit”.

MJM Marine is a leading international specialist in cruise ship refurbishment with almost 40 years’ experience. Mivan is one of Northern Ireland’s best-known fit out businesses working in the luxury land and marine sectors across the world, Topglass is a specialist glass and glazing contractor operating across the UK and Ireland and MJM Renewables is focused on the development of renewable energy sources. Recent projects completed across the Group include Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection’s inaugural vessel, Evrima; The Broadway, London and Belfast’s Bank Buildings (Primark Store).

MJM Group has recently rebranded to Rathbane Group which is made up of MJM Marine, Mivan Limited, Topglass and MJM Renewables as well as an extensive property portfolio.
