Bite n Banter are hosting their 6th Christmas Day dinner this year in the Gateway Club in Newry and are asking everyone to pass on the news to anyone they think would like to join the Christmas celebrations.

If you are going to be on your own this Christmas and would rather not, you are more that welcome to join in the crack and all you have to do is turn up. If you need a lift, organisers have that sorted as well all you have to do is give them a ring before the day, the earlier the better! Festivities start at 1pm.

If you're not attending the festivities but want to help you can take along cooked dinners on the day. See explanation below.

Every year it just gets bigger and better. There’ll be brilliant music, great food, great crack, maybe some dancing and it’s all Free.

As a spokesperson explains "we will need the most important ingredients to complete the day and that’s those who will be on their own on Christmas Day and your dinners.

"For all the new members who don’t know how it works -  We are all guilty of over-cooking on Christmas Day so plate up an extra dinner and drop it down to the Gateway between 12.30 and 2.30.

"We know that in the past they have been fantastic and so again we ask the same of you. The only thing we ask that you do NOT put gravy on it."

Any Questions?

Q: Are Bite n Banter connected to the Gateway Club?
A. No. they are only using the Gateway club as they offered them the use of the facility and there is good parking and its central.

Q: Are they a charity?
A. No. They are just a few people getting together to make this happen.

Q: What does it cost ?
A. No a penny. Everything is supplied by the good people of Newry and beyond.

Q: Who can go?
A. Absolutely everyone . Young, Old. They are here for everyone.

Q: How does it work?
A. Bite n Banter ask the good people of Newry and beyond to make an extra dinner on Christmas Day and then bring it down to them at the Gateway Club between 12.15pm and 2.30pm. Then those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day can come down to the club and have that dinner. There will be music. Great food. Tea coffee and lovely desserts.
Toys for children too. They don't want anyone to be alone on Christmas Day

Q: What if I haven't got a car. There isn't any public transport on Christmas Day?
A. Just get in contact with the team on 077 8367 1217
They will collect you and leave you home again. Free of charge.

Q: Will there be reporters from newspapers there?
A. Definitely not. Organisers do not want any publicity. That is not what they are about.

Q: Will there be alcohol served?
A. No there will not. But there will be loads of tea and coffee and soft drinks.

Q: How long can you stay?
A. You can stay as long as you like.
