Newry Gaza Film Festival continues tonight 4 March, 7pm with a screening of Oscar winning documentary No Other Land at Finegan and Son café, 9 Kildare Street, Newry.
Thanks to the very generous donations from a packed house at Finegan and Son café last Tuesday evening for the showing of ‘Where Olive Trees Weep’, Newry IPSC’s Gaza Film got off to a flying start. Over £1,000 was raised, which has gone towards raising funds for a mobile maternity unit to be sent to Gaza.
The unit will transform the lives of the tens of thousands of expectant and new mothers trying to survive amidst the rubble of Gaza, where pregnant women and those with young babies have lost access to vital services like prenatal and postnatal care, family planning and treatment for infections and many women are forced to give birth in tents without any medical assistance.
Tonight's film in the festival is ‘No Other Land’. Released in 2024, this powerful documentary was made by media activists from both Israel and Palestine and captures the reality of a land struggle between resident Palestinians and the occupying Israeli forces seeking their expulsion.
Admission is free and donations are welcome. The festival continues on Tuesdays at 7pm at Finegan and Son Cafe until the end of March.
