IPSC Newry Chairman Marc Mac Seáin ahead of the rally said "Support for apartheid Israel's crimes against humanity in Gaza is on the wane.
"Nations across the world overwhelming supported a symbolic UN General Assembly resolution calling for a ceasefire and return of all hostages. Only the USA is now willing to block a more consequential ceasefire resolution on the UN Security Council. The attempted USA-lead coalition for "Operation Prosperity Guardian" to protect Red Sea shipping routes appears to have floundered, as a consequence trade to Israel has now been constrained. South Africa has filed a case at the ICJ decrying Israel for violating the Genocide Convention."
BDS is a Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice and equality and it is calling for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel Until it Complies with International Law and Universal Principles of Human Rights - 9 July 2005.
Mr Mac Seáin added "Israel and the USA can't and won't keep this genocidal crusade up forever, its unsustainable. We need to keep pushing to isolate them and every country and corporation who supports them to prevent the bloodshed of Palestinians. Netanyahu's recent discussions with Israeli politicians have been leaked, revealing he still insists on a plan to make life in Gaza impossible and force the Gazans into the Sinai peninsula. This second Nakbha cannot be allowed to reach that point.
