The hungerstrikers gave their lives so that future Republican Prisoners, the prisoners of today, would have better conditions and wouldn't have to endure the suffering that they did in 1981. They gave their lives so they wouldn't be criminalised. Our prison struggle is far from over."

Today over 1600 of our comrades in Palestine are currently on hunger strike for freedom and dignity. Basic rights is all they seek, much like our political prisoners. We know only too well about the mistreatment and torture of political prisoners and It's is only right and fitting that we show solidarity and support here today to the Palestinian hunger strikers."

In our time of need. Our Palestinian comrades stood by us in solidarity and it's imperative that we do the same for them."

Mr Murney concluded with words from two imprisoned Palestinian leaders Marwan Barghouti and PFLP General Secretary Ahmed Sa'adat.

"This hunger strike aims to confront the ongoing and escalating unjust Israeli occupation policies against prisoners and their loved ones. We stress our determination to undertake this struggle whatever the cost, and we have no doubt that the Palestinian prisoners will be steadfast and prevail. Prisoners are proud to be part of this nation and its infinite resilience, and they are proud to endure for our country, convinced that victory is ineluctable."
