Planning Permission has been granted for a proposed residential development comprising of 74 homes, close to Newry Train Station.
The development named 'Station View' will be accessed off Derrybeg Lane and is situated close to the Camlough Road roundabout, giving easy access to the main Dublin to Belfast corridor. The elevated site has a panoramic view over Newry city.
The project comprising dwelling units and garages will include a mix of detached and semi-detached house types, open space, landscaping and all associated site works.
The nine acre site is at the junction of Derrybeg Lane and Craigmore Way and at present the site is occupied by a recycling facility.
Applicant Calmor Properties, Rathfriland explain in their proposal that 11% of the site will be open space with a high level of tree planting around the site. "Within the scheme there are a number of proposed areas of open space, including areas situated along the site frontage at Derrybeg Lane, that create a visually attractive entrance to the development. A high level of soft landscaping and tree planting will be undertaken throughout the development in order to soften the urban environment created."
A large area of open space has been created at the highest point of the site "This area of open space has been created centrally and will read as a village green within the development." the proposal adds.
