Police in Newry have arrested three teenagers following a violent altercation involving a number of young males at the Buttercrane Centre and Francis Street on Saturday 18 October. Officers are now appealing for an injured youth who left the scene before they arrived to come forward as they have concerns for his wellbeing.
The incident happened at around 5.40pm when police responded to reports of the altercation. Three males were arrested at the scene, two aged 17 and one aged 16, on suspicion of offences including attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. Two of those arrested, aged 16 and 17, have been released on bail to allow for further enquiries while the other 17 year old was released unconditionally.
Inspector Ritchie said: "We are particularly keen to speak with a male youth who we believe was attacked on Francis Street and who may have sustained injuries. This male had left the scene prior to officers arriving and we would like to speak with him as we have concerns for his wellbeing."
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area to contact them at Ardmore station on 101, quoting reference number 1120 18/10/25.
