Following the discovery of a man's body in a house in Catherine Street, Newry yesterday (Saturday 24th January) police have appealed for information from anyone who might have known him or seen him yesterday.

The body of 56 year old Rimantis Tamosiunas was found inside the house on Catherine Street at around 8pm last night.
The senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Jill Duffie said: “We are keen to trace the movements of the deceased in the hours leading up to his death. We would like to hear from anyone who knows him or who may have seen him at any time on Saturday 24th January.

A post mortem examination is due to take place to determine cause of death.

Newry & Armagh MLA Mickey Brady has also urged anyone with information to contact the PSNI immediately " Police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Tamosiunas and I am aware a post mortem is due to take place" said the Sinn Féin MLA.
He continued "The news of this sudden death has caused distress amongst the Newry community and rather than add to that distress through speculation, I would appeal to anyone who can help with tracing his movements to contact the PSNI".
