Political Reps Visit Down GAA Hub Site at Ballykinler

South Down MLA Andrew McMurray and Slieve Croob Councillor Helena Young have praised progress on the new Centre of Participation, Wellbeing & Shared Learning Hub in Ballykinler, following a pre-development walk around  the site.

The hub is being developed by Down GAA in cooperation with Co-operation Ireland and County Down Rural Community Network. It has been made possible due to PEACEPLUS funding, as well as additional money from NMDDC and Down GAA and a lease agreement with the Ministry of Defence.

Speaking on the plans Andrew McMurray said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to walk around the site and see where the pitches and grounds will be. The Hub will provide a fabulous shared space, which we need more of, and will provide brilliant opportunities for people from all backgrounds. It will be used by Down GAA for training and coaching, and other sporting organisations, clubs and bodies will be able to use it too. It’s something I have been involved in as a Cllr over the years and it’s good to see it coming to fruition and reaching its final stages of development.”
