Loughran expresses concern about state of local roads
Slieve Gullion Councillor, Kate Loughran has expressed concern about the state of local roads in rural communities.

Cllr Loughran commented "Recently I've been inundated with messages about the sorry state of our roads across the Slieve Gullion DEA. Road surfaces across many rural areas have rapidly deteriorated and we've potholes as big as paddling pools in some places.
"Rural roads seem to be falling further and further down the pecking order. Rural communities deserve as good quality road infrastructure as much as anywhere else.
“The current ‘patchwork quilt’ approach costs more money in the long term than carrying out the full resurfacing of roads that are substandard. Recent figures highlighting that over £1.2m paid in compensation to motorists is testament to this.
