Gordon McCoy from ULTACH gave a recent talk at Newry City Library on Protestants and the Irish Language, past and present.
Topics included the history of Irish speaking in Protestant communities, past and present factors that inhibit Protestant/ Unionist interest in the language and what young Protestants think of the language today.
The event attracted a capacity crowd who listened with interest and contributed their own thoughts on the matter.
ULTACH is a Belfast based Charitible Trust with the aim of promoting the Irish language throughout the entire community in Northern Ireland.
