Write a commentIt looks like a glorious weekend’s weather is in store for the very first Iur Cinn Fleadh and here at Newry.ie we are putting our money where our mouth is and sponsoring the Iúr Cinn Fleadh Street Session Competition this Saturday the 13th of September from 12pm to 2pm in Hill Street, Newry.
You could walk away with a crisp £100 in two easy steps!
One: Set yourself up anywhere along Hill Street in Newry before 12pm on Saturday.
Two: Open your mouth and perform between 12pm and 2pm.
The best street session judged by our independent judge will go home a hundred pounds the richer - It’s as simple as that.
The judge will be looking obviously for talent but also choice of location and audience appreciation.
You don’t have to sing traditional or folk but it may help saying it’s a Fleadh but no pressure!
We will go round Hill Street noting entries shortly after twelve and the winner will be announced shortly after two. The Judges decision is obviously final!
It's hoped that even when the competition finishes that musicians will stay around and play throughout the city.
