Local councillor Áine Quinn has welcomed news that work has commenced on the provision of a phone mast at Mullaghbawn.
The mast will be operational by May. The Slieve Gullion councillor said “Ensuring local families and businesses can avail of a proper connection for mobile signal will be a game changer.
“My party colleagues and I have lobbied for improving phone signal across South Armagh for a number of years and it’s great to see that works to improve this are now coming close to delivery.
“Access to a proper phone signal is now as essential for rural communities as broadband and other modern services."
Cllr Quinn believes the mast will be key to helping local businesses thrive and attract investment as well as promote tourism, things that she believes are "essential to grow the economy and create new jobs across South Armagh.”
