A security alert this afternoon at Barracric Road, Cloughoge, Newry has concluded with both Barracric Road and the Dublin Belfast railway line now reopened.
It followed the discovery of a suspicious object in the area around 3pm.
The PSNI have described the object as a viable explosive device.

Sinn Féins Mickey Brady expressing his anger at the news commented "The people carrying out these attacks are doing so against the expressed wishes of the Irish people and to wreck the advances of the peace and political process. It not only was an attack on the political process but also potentially endangered people living in the area"
