This Thursday 14 August the Newry branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign ’s regular pots and pans demo in protest at the genocide and collective starvation taking place in Gaza has a special guest. Local rapper Cúchulainn (aka Ruairi Cahill) will be performing his 'anthem of resistance' 'Éirígí' (Arise, Rise Up) at the demo.
All those in the area who oppose the genocide are welcome to take part in the demo, which takes place outside Finegan and Son Café in Kildare St, Newry at 6.30. A meeting of Newry IPSC will take place afterwards in Finegan and Son.
Cúchulainn's song features bilingual lyrics from Irish rapper Cú Chulainn Hip-Hop accompanied by the stunning traditional Irish music flavours of Belfast's own Anna O’Broin [ORTHA] - all blended into a pulsating bass-line dance beat. As he explains "this genre defying mash up ignites the senses, inspires raw truth and amplifies an unapologetic message of solidarity with the Palestinian people."
