Newry City councillor Valerie Harte has welcomed the installation of yellow junction boxes on the Rathfriland Road in Newry.
Speaking about her lobbying Cllr Harte said "I’ve been working with local residents as well as the Windsor day centre to secure a solution to traffic congestion on the road, particularly during peak hours.
"After much lobbying of DFI, I’m delighted to see that these junction boxes are now in place, and will go some way to helping ease traffic congestion on the road but also improving the overall safety of the road."
The Newry representative is campaigning for similar measures to be implemented on the Crieve Road and Balmoral Avenue.
