Write a commentPolice are asking residents to keep an eye out for any unusual activity in their area following an attempted burglary in the Ravensglen area.
Around 9.30am on Tuesday, 14 February, two males were observed at the rear of a house. The males were disturbed and ran off towards Chancellors Road in the direction of Dublin Road. Entry was not gained to the house.
The first male was carrying a hammer and was wearing a dark hooded top and a large, rounded yellow logo on the back and dark coloured bottoms. The second male was wearing a grey jacket and had dark hair. Both males are described as being in their early thirties, of slim build and of average height.
Constable McKenna said: "Fortunately, in this case, these males were disturbed and did not gain entry to the house. We would encourage all residents in Newry to keep an eye out in their local community. You know what is normal in your own neighbourhood and what looks out of place or not quite right. If something doesn't feel right or you notice something that appears suspicious contact us straight away. We would much rather check out a report of suspicious activity and find it is nothing untoward than miss an opportunity to prevent criminal activity."
