Write a commentTwo major road resurfacing schemes in the Newry area have been announced by Transport Minister Danny Kennedy. The largest a £215,000 scheme is on the Tandragee Road with work commencing on Monday coming (12th January) while the second scheme will see £122,000 spent on the A28 Armagh Road.
The Armagh Road work is due to start shortly between Lissummon Road and Jockeys Brae and will run till the end of the month.
The Tandragee Road work is due to begin on Monday coming between Carnbane Rd and Sheepbridge Road and is expected to be finished by the 11th of February.
Commenting on the schemes the Minister said: “The scheme will improve the quality of the road surface and improve the drainage on this stretch of road.”
To help minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local businesses all preparatory work is programmed to be completed using a 40mph temporary speed restriction from 12 January until 27 January 2015. A full road closure will be used for the resurfacing work from 28 January to 11 February 2015 and local traffic diversions will be signed for road users.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads TransportNI will keep the public informed of any change.
