A reader has asked Newry.ie if any local charities are taking peoples stamps as donations, before they are rendered unusable at the end of July.
The addition of barcodes to all Royal Mail's regular stamps means that any old 'Queens head' stamps that you have need to be exchanged for new ones before 31 July 2023. Note Special Stamps with pictures on and Christmas Stamps without a barcode will continue to be valid and don't need to be swapped out.
Royal Mail have made it quite inconvenient for the public to exchange their old stamps for the new ones as this is not possible via a Post Office but rather you have to download and print out a Swap Out form or pick up one from your local Post office. Your form then needs to be filled in and posted to "Freepost SWAP OUT" You can get more information at www.royalmail.com
If you know a charity or are connected to one that would accept the old stamps as a donation please let us know and we will let the public know. Either add a message below or email us on news@newry.ie
