This years Fourth Annual Run for Autism is on this Saturday the First of October. It consists of a Half Marathon, 10 Mile Run and a 10 Mile Walk.
Helping Autism in Newry and District would like to make a final request for everyone in the Newry and Mourne area who is fit and able to come out and join in this very enjoyable, energising and extremely worthwhile cause. This is a great opportunity for all those budding athletes to put their energies into helping the many people living with Autism and their families in the area.
So far we have provided funding to a number of local groups, such as the Gateway Club, St Joseph’s Learning Support Unit Bessbrook, Happy Faces Kilkeel, Newry Riding for the Disabled and we have just agreed to help fund the Music Programme in Rathore Special Needs School for the next year, as funding has been lost for this from the Government.
For those of you who are not up to running or walking you can come along and help create an atmosphere, either at the start, or the finish, or both!
The Committee of H.A.N.D. (Helping Autism in Newry and District), have worked extremely hard to make this a very well organised and fun filled day and to make all our efforts worthwhile we need plenty of support on the day.
So come on, get your runners on and get out there on Saturday 1st Oct 2011 starting at Newtownhamilton Playing Fields on the Dundalk Road.
Bus transfers are available from Lissummon to Newtownhamilton from 10.30am onwards as required. Anyone wishing to avail of this service should allow themselves plenty of time, so as not to keep others back, or to avoid being late for the commencement of walk ( starting 12noon) half marathon (1pm) or 10mile run (1.15pm).
