Newry Samaritans held a 24/7 event this week at Newry bus station. It is part of a wider Samaritan exercise where they hold events on the 24th of July (24/7) to highlight that they are always there to offer a listening ear.
Elaine, Deputy Director for Outreach said "Every year we use 24th July to highlight that we offer confidential, emotional support to anyone experiencing feelings of distress, isolation or despair 24/7, 365 days a year.
No problem is too big or too small, if you need to talk, at any hour day or night we will listen. Samaritans can be contacted by phone, text, email or in person. Your local branch is situated at 19 St Colmans Park, just off Hill Street."
The event was attended by Mayor, John McArdle, Big O, Frank Feeley, Jackie Patterson, Davy Hyland, Grounded, Translink staff, members of the public and volunteers.
