Write a commentMore than 100 volunteers at the Newry/Dundalk branch answered 26,744 calls for help last year and all this month the local branch join Samaritans’ country wide in holding their annual awareness month, Talk to Us.
The charity is calling on the public to make a 60 second pledge to brighten someone's day for Talk to Us during the month of July. This could be by giving a compliment, calling an old friend, or telling a joke.
Over 100 Talk to Us events are taking place across the UK and Ireland as the charity raises awareness of the importance of talking, and its round the clock service, for anyone struggling to cope.
People throughout Northern Ireland can get involved by simply texting ‘SUPPORT’ to 70080* to make a £4 donation which is the cost to the charity of answering one call for help.
