The 1st Dromore Scout Group in Newry are trying to raise funds to replace the roof on their Newry headquarters at Home Avenue.
For over 75 years the group has been a beacon of community strength and development. Their Scout Hall is more than just a building – it’s a hub for 130 enthusiastic young scouts, guided by 24 dedicated leaders, and a symbol of their commitment to fostering values, enhancing team dynamics, and encouraging individual growth.
A spokesperson from 1st Dromore said "From installing defibrillators in our community to leading local litter pick-ups, we continuously strive to support and uplift our community. We are proud participants in iconic local events, such as Dromantine Sunday and the Kilbroney Car Rally, making us an integral part of the community spirit of Newry.
They explained the necessity of the £10,000 they are trying to raise "Our roof requires urgent renovation to ensure we can continue to provide a safe, warm space for our scouts to learn, grow, and make memories. This project is crucial to our ongoing operations and commitment to the young people of Newry."
In conclusion the spokesperson said "We are reaching out to you, our community, to help us in this time of need. Every donation, big or small, will help us to restore our Scout Hall roof and secure the future of 1st Dromore Scout Group in Newry. By supporting this cause, you're not only helping to restore a building, you're investing in the young people who are the future of our community."
