A police investigation is underway following the reported death of a woman in Drumalane earlier today.
The 20-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Drumalane Park and Detectives from Serious Crime Branch have arrested a 23-year-old man.
The investigation is at an early stage and police are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
Members of the PSNI Armed Response Unit were in attendance at the incident this morning.
Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady has said the local community is in shock.
"News that the death of a woman whose body was found at her home in Drumalane Park in Newry is being treated as suspicious has shocked the local community.
"I want to express my condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the woman who has died at this sad time.
"A police investigation is now underway and anyone with information on what happened should get in contact with the PSNI."
