Two Billboards that were just put in place in early December to promote the forthcoming Newry city park at the Albert Basin will have to be removed and replaced following vandalism that saw grafitti sprayed on them around 17/18 December 2023.
The information boards were put in place just two weeks earlier 4 December as part of an event at the Albert Basin to launch a 'meanwhile use' area and to celebrate the approval of the Council's Outline Business Case for the park which released access to funding of £16.2m to build Phase One of what will be a much needed boost to Newry City.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council have told Newry.ie that the boards will be removed this week with replacement signs erected in the coming weeks.
Phase one of the Newry City park is due to open by May 2027.
