Representatives of the SOS Daisy Hill Hospitals Committee held a meeting with the newly appointed Interim Chief Executive of the Southern Trust, Steve Spoerry to discuss Daisy Hill Hospital Services and the hospitals future development.
Members of the SOS Daisy Hill Hospital Committee raised a number of matters regarding the hospital including Maternity, Emergency Surgery, Staff Recruitment Strategy, Stroke Services, Cross Border Health Collaboration, MRI Services, Use of Locum Consultants, Staff Morale, Future Capital Developments at Daisy Hill Hospital and Craigavon Area Hospital, Public Consultations and finally communication with local residents and community organisations.
The SOS Daisy Hill Committee members were very pleased with the discussions held with the new Trust CEO and SOS Committee Chairman Francis Gallagher said “ We had a very honest and informative meeting with Steve Spoerry and agreed there would be regular meetings between Steve Spoerry, Trust Staff and SOS Daisy Hill Committee members to ensure further discussions would be held about matters pertaining to Daisy Hill.” He concluded by saying, “ There is a big opportunity for the Southern Health and Social Services Trust to develop a partnership with the SOS Daisy Hill Hospital Committee to develop a community communication strategy to ensure a proper flow of information on all matters involving Daisy Hill Hospital. This communication plan will prevent fake news and guarantee evidence based information is feed to the community on all matters impacting on Daisy Hill Hospital. This sharing of information will allow SOS Daisy Hill Hospital Committee to communicate accurate information on future developments at Daisy Hill Hospital.”
The SOS Daisy Hill Hospital Committee Members reinforced their commitment to the future development of health services at Daisy Hill Hospital and agreed to work with the Trust to achieve this objective.
