A project aimed at preserving the archaeological heritage of South Armagh has secured £172,000 from Heritage Lottery NI.

The Rural Health Partnership will work in collaboration with the Cardinal Ó Fiaich Heritage Centre in Cullyhanna to deliver the "Rural Heritage of South Armagh" project.

The initiative hopes to provide the rural community with skills and knowledge about how to assist in preserving important archaeological assets for generations to come, supporting local farm families, individuals and the wider rural community to have a better understanding of the importance of sustaining these historic sites and landscape features.

Majella Gollogly, Rural Health Partnership said "Not only does this project assist in the preservation of the significant archaeological sites of the area, but it will also provide the opportunity for local employment.

"We are sincerely grateful to the Heritage Lottery NI for their support of our work."

Further updates and developments on the "Rural Heritage of South Armagh" project will be shared on the organisation's social media channels.
