Denise Fegan (Hospice Nurse) and Collette Murphy (Health Care Assistant|) from Southern Area Hospice are encouraging people to pop the kettle on and host a Coffee Morning for Southern Area Hospice on September 19.

It’s that time of year again when Southern Area Hospice is asking people to pop the kettle on for its annual Coffee Morning.

This year the Hospice needs to raise £3.6m to enable to continue providing specialist palliative care services.

The annual Coffee Morning, which takes place this year on Thursday, September 19, is a major fundraiser for the Hospice, with people across the Southern Health and Social Care Trust area hosting events each year.

The Hospice is once again encouraging people to become coffee morning hosts and gather with friends, family and work colleagues to raise their cups for local Hospice care.

Speaking on behalf of the Hospice, Fundraising Officer Brian Hyland said the Coffee Morning provides a huge boost to its annual fundraising target.

He said: “The Hospice needs to raise £3.6m this year to continue its care of people in our community with life-limiting illnesses. This equates to £69,230 per week, £9,683 per day, or £410 an hour. It’s a huge task, but thanks to the continued support and events such as the annual Coffee Morning, we are able to continue providing our services.”

This year’s coffee morning takes place on September 19 – but if this isn’t suitable, individuals or businesses can host an event on an alternative date.

All you need is a kettle, some tasty treats and good company, with the Hospice Fundraising Team providing a fundraising pack to help ensure the event runs smoothly.

Brian added: “The money raised from your coffee morning goes directly to support the work of the Hospice. We turn the donations you make into the care we provide to our patients and their families, and this makes a difference every single day, so please register now and be a Host for Hospice this year.”

To register as a host, all you need to do is email hylandb@southernareahospiceservices.org or visit our website at www.southernareahospiceservices.org

Fundraising packs including Hospice literature, balloons, posters and a collection box will be posted directly to you.

So, please raise your cups for Southern Area Hospice this September by registering to be a Coffee Morning Host today and know that the money you raise will be turned into the care our patients receive. Every cup really does count.

If you have any queries, please call Brian on (028) 3025 1333 or email hylandb@southernareahospiceservices.org
