A public meeting is being held for the Southern Trust area in Armagh in February as part of a consultation on the Hospital Reconfiguration Framework, a controversial document launched by Health Minister Mike Nesbitt in October 2024. Perhaps the most controversial elements of the framework document is the designation of Daisy Hill Hospital as a 'General Hospital' and Craigavon as an 'Area Hospital' with the resulting additional services that would come with the area designation.
The meeting will take place in the Armagh City Hotel on Tuesday 18 February from 7 to 9pm and all are welcome.
The consultation, “Hospitals – Creating a Network for Better Outcomes”, was launched on 2 October and sets out the key principles to underpin service reorganisation.
The Health Minister said the aim of the consultation is to address a number of areas including the need for hospital reconfiguration, how hospitals can work together for better outcomes, where services are and how people can get the services they need in a sustainable way.
An Online meeting is also taking place on Tuesday 11 February from 7 to 9pm
The meetings will provide information about the proposals, answer questions from the public, and encourage participation in the consultation process.
Details on how to register for each of the public events can be found at www.eventbrite.com
The consultation deadline has now been extended until 28 February 2025.
