Over 150 people turned out for a Multicultural Day hosted by the Southern Trust, celebrating diversity and culture with staff from the entire trust area in attendance at Portadown Town Hall.
The event ran in conjunction with ABC Community Network, featured music and dance performances, traditional food from around the world, henna art and creative crafts.
Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Cathy Lavery said the success of Multicultural Day highlighted what makes the Trust so special. "By coming together to share our cultures, we create a real sense of pride and belonging," she said. She added that the event strengthened the Trust's journey as a learning organisation, with staff having the opportunity to experience and understand traditions beyond their own.
Director of HR and Organisational Development Vivienne Toal said Multicultural Day showcased the richness of talent and culture within the workforce. "By coming together and celebrating the rich diversity of our people, the event has been a true reflection of our Vision and Strategy 2030 and our commitment to collaborative working," she said.
Emma Brannigan, Network Manager of ABC Community Network said they were delighted to partner with the Southern Trust for the event. "At ABC Community Network we work closely with people from many different cultural backgrounds, supporting them to connect with one another and access information that helps them feel part of the wider community," she said. She added that the Multicultural event showed the power of collaboration in bringing people together, saying it was inspiring to see so many cultures represented and celebrated under one roof.
The event brought together staff from across the Southern Trust to celebrate the diverse cultures within the organisation, reinforcing the Trust's commitment to compassion and inclusion.
