Write a commentA photographic print taken by photographer Stephen Wallace has been donated to residents of Ben Crom Supported Housing Development in Kilkeel by Ann Spencer who won it in a competition on th ephotographers Facebook page in December.
Stephen from Hibernia Landscapes was shortlisted in the UK Mountain Photo of the Year competition for the photograph.
Ann, who works in Kilkeel as a Manager for the South Down Integrated Care Team said: “I was delighted to win the print of Ben Crom Sunset and knew that the best place for it would be in our new complex with the people who have grown up at the foot of Ben Crom.”
Brian Moyles, Ben Crom resident said: “The photo is beautiful, Stephen is very talented and Ann is very generous for sharing such a special prize with us.”
Alice Hennity, Ben Crom resident added: “It fits in just perfect here, I enjoy looking at the picture and it brings a smile to my face every time.”
The Ben Crom complex was opened in October 2017 and has ten single and two, two-bedroom apartments, accommodating up to 14 older people to have the chance to live more independently in their own home with the reassurance that there is support close to hand should they need it.
The complex was developed in partnership between the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, Supporting People, Choice Housing and MindWise.
Anyone interested in accommodation at Ben Crom will be assessed and referred by a Social Worker. As part of the application process, the team liaises with the older person and their carers to ensure that the service is suitable for their needs.
