Slieve Gullion Councillor Mickey Larkin welcomed the positioning of a Speed Indicator Trailer in Dromintee and Mullaghbawn.
Speaking about the facility Cllr Larkin said "Acting in response to ongoing concerns of residents from Dromintee and Tullymacreeve Road Mullaghbawn, I requested the placing of the Speed Indicator Trailer at both locations. There have been many incidents of speeding and crashes along these stretches of road over the years with the most recent at Dromintee only a week ago.
"Although only in place for a short time the Trailer is a reminder to road users that they are entering a residential area with speed restrictions.
"We should all respect everyone's journey and think safety first on our roads. Care, Courtesy and Consideration should be our watch words when travelling through our villages. Where ever we're going will still be there no matter what time we arrive.
The Newry, Mourne and Down Councillor concluded "I will continue to work with statutory agencies to raise awareness of and increase road safety within our district."
