A planning application to demolish a wall outside the SRC East Campus in Newry has been withdrawn following a protest by local residents.
The wall is the last remaining sign of the former Cattle and Pig Mart that resided on the site.

Welcoming the news Newry and Armagh MP, Mickey Brady commented “Senior management have contacted me to confirm that they have withdrawn their application to amend the frontage of the East Campus building. They have also committed to consulting with the local community on any future plans to develop facilities including changes to the frontages of the Campuses at Patrick Street”.
Concluding the MP said, “I commend the SRC Management Team for their prompt response to the concerns that myself and many local residents raised”.
