Sixty school children from St Moninna’s Primary School, Cloughoge Student Council visited Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage and Council officials at Council Offices in Downpatrick recently.
The pupils from Primary 6, expressed an interest in visiting the Council as they had been learning about local government and had wanted to engage with our local representatives to find out more about their job and about local issues pertaining to their community.
They were keen to hear about plans to build the Newry City Park. During the visit students took the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with the Chairperson.
Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage thanked the children for coming along and taking such an interest in the exciting plans for Newry.
