Still some Tickets Left for CU on Hill Street

Thousands of young Credit Union members and many others from across the area are gearing up for Newry Credit Union’s 50th Anniversary free concert ‘CU on Hill Street’ taking place this coming Sunday the 25th of August.

There are still a limited number of tickets available for Credit Union members by calling into Newry Credit Union or for the general public at Newry Arts Centre, Warrenpoint Town Hall, Kilkeel Town Hall and Crossmaglen Community Centre. It has also been confirmed that there will be a wheelchair access area with limited spaces. Passes for this area are now available for reservation and collection at Newry Credit Union on a first come, first served basis.

The completely free concert will be hosted by Cool FM’s Connor Phillips and will see The Loveable Rogues, Jordan O’Keefe, Derek Ryan and Marty Fay and the Banditos take to the stage.

There will be disruption from 8am until after 6pm on Sunday 25th August on Hill Street with the street closed to traffic from the Town Hall side of Hill Street through to Bennetts Jewellers from 8am. There will be limited access for Blue Badge Holders and emergency services. People are advised to leave extra time if attending masses in the Cathedral or accessing shops on the street.

Brendan Jackson, Manager Newry Credit Union said, “We have been in touch with the businesses on Hill Street to let them know that there will be disruption on Hill Street on the day of the concert. We hope that people will not be unnecessarily inconvenienced and will join in the atmosphere of the event. This should be a fantastic day with thousands of young people already securing tickets. We are delighted to bring this scale of free concert to Hill Street for our juvenile Members, other Credit Union Members and people from across Newry & Mourne. We hope that people will also avail of the wheelchair accessible area which we have provided by contacting us here at Newry Credit Union on 028 3026 3840.”

All under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult or guardian over 16.  

Gates will open at 1.00pm at the Town Hall side of Hill Street and admission will be strictly ticket only. The concert will take place from 2pm-5pm.  Alcohol will not be permitted or sold within the perimeters and concert promoters reserve the right to refuse admission.  Please be aware that as advised on tickets bottles, umbrellas and pushchairs are not permitted in the Concert Area.
