Community group Rotten to the Point is hosting a Solidarity Walk and Peaceful Protest at Warrenpoint Port this Saturday 15 March. Members of the Warrenpoint and Carlingford Lough community are invited to the protest which will see participants walk from Warrenpoint Harbour Authority House in the Square to the main Warrenpoint Harbour Authority gates on the Newry Road. The protest is from 2:30pm and walk starts at 3pm. The parade commission has been notified of the Solidarity Walk and Peaceful Protest and the walk will be on the footpath on route.
The event is in support of the local community and the fears they have of stinking black bin waste at the Warrenpoint Harbour Authority site and the effects it has on residents, businesses, tourism, property prices and the environment of the Carlingford Lough.
A large crowd at last year's Protest heard from politicians, who have been invited once again this year to hear the concerns of a community that has stink and noise issues now and are worried what Spring and the Summer will hold.
All are welcome to the protest. Meet outside Warrenpoint Harbour House ( Beside First and Last Bar) Saturday 15 March at 2:30 pm where you can join the walk to Warrenpoint Harbour Main Gates at 3 pm.
