A wood burning stove has been stolen from a new hot room provided by volunteers at Camlough Lake to help with the recovery of swimmers after ice swims in the lake.
The Ice Swims are a winter training programme aimed towards a non wetsuit swim of 1 mile/ 1 Kilometre in 2015 and yesterday was the first of the swims on the lake.
The stove had just been installed at the weekend.
Commenting Fews area Sinn Féin Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said the theft has caused great anger throughout the community. "This Stove had just been installed into the facility used by local swimmers on the lake as an essential Hot Room which would help aid the recovery of swimmers after ice swims. It's theft is a mean criminal act which has caused great dismay and anger throughout the community. I would appeal for anyone who knows anything about this incident or who will be approached to buy the stove, to contact the police immediately".
