Three Ways Community Association in Newry has thanked everyone who helped make its three-day Community Festival a resounding success. The event, held at the weekend, 21 - 23 August, raised more than £1,200 for Dementia NI.

The festival opened with a lively quiz and karaoke night at the Windmill Bar, followed by a Community Get-together with afternoon tea, harp music and bingo. It concluded with a packed Community Funday offering activities and entertainment for all ages. A great turnout for all three events, created a wonderful atmosphere and highlighted the strong sense of community that exists throughout the Three Ways area and beyond.
Padraig Harte, Secretary of Three Ways Community Association, said: "The whole weekend showed exactly what community spirit is about. It was fantastic to see so many people pass through the different events, join in with the activities and feel part of our community.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped organise and set up the events, donated prizes, volunteered their time or simply came along and supported us. Every person played a part in making the festival such a success."

The association said the fundraising for Dementia NI was a meaningful way to give something back in recognition of the support it has received from the community over many years. Harte added: "The fundraising was a lovely addition to the weekend and reflected the kindness of everyone who attended and donated. As an association, we have benefited from tremendous support, so being able to help another worthwhile cause made the festival even more special."
The festival was part-funded by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, the Housing Executive and The National Lottery Community Fund, and Three Ways Community Association expressed its sincere appreciation to all three funders for their continued support, which helps the association provide accessible events, activities and opportunities for local residents.
Harte concluded: "It was a brilliant weekend filled with friendship, connection, good relations, laughter and happy memories. We cannot thank our funders, volunteers, local businesses, facilitators, entertainers and community members enough for helping make it possible.
"We now look forward to delivering even more for our community over the coming months through education, community cohesion, connection and, of course, plenty of fun."
