Newry, Mourne and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) hosted a community safety and wellbeing event at Newry Leisure Centre earlier this month.
The free drop-in event on 6 March saw more than 35 organisations and service providers offer information, advice and support across a range of topics relating to community safety, health and wellbeing. Residents were able to connect with local services, find out about support available in the area and take part in interactive demonstrations throughout the day.

One of the highlights of the event was a road safety demonstration delivered by the South Area Command of the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, during which firefighters carried out an emergency rescue involving a vehicle, supported by officers from the PSNI Newry City Neighbourhood Policing Team. The demonstration offered those in attendance a direct insight into the work carried out by emergency services at road traffic collisions.
The NPT also brought its Mobile Engagement Bus to the event, which proved popular with younger visitors. The space gave officers the chance to engage with young people in a relaxed setting while promoting safety messages.
Students from a number of local schools and community groups attended alongside the organisations hosting stalls on the day.
Newry, Mourne and Down PCSP Chairperson, Councillor Henry Reilly said: "Events like this are incredibly important in helping to connect our communities with the wide range of services and support that are available locally. It was fantastic to see such a positive turnout and to see so many organisations coming together to promote community safety and wellbeing."
Cllr Reilly added: "I would like to thank all of the members of the public, schools and community groups who took the time to come along and make the event such a success."
