It's that time of the year again when our City is festooned in colourful lights for the Christmas Season. The Decorations are in place and the switch on will be on Thursday 18th November 2010 from 5.00pm to 7.00pm at Marcus Square, Hill Street. Come along and get in to the spirit of things. This year a real Christmas Tree in Marcus Square makes a popular re-appearance so yes our Council DO listen!
Programme of Events:
“Twinkletoes and the Magic Wishing Tree” An enchanted adventure of Magic, Mayhem and Surprise! Newry’s very own mischief maker Twinkletoes will be joined by friends Starlight the Christmas Fairy and Mr Tumblebug in a festive tale what will come to life around the Christmas tree.
Serenading the crowds with a selection of Christmas favourites will be the Newry Community Band followed by Sheridan Gospel Singers.
Official lighting ceremony will be performed by Mayor of Council, Mick Murphy, Santa Claus and a very special guest.
