Local businessman, Liam Goss of William Goss & Sons Renault Newry has taken the decision to resign as chairperson of the Hospice Dinner Dance Committee after 10 long years of service and dedication. Liam will remain on the Dance Committee of which he has been a member since 1991, but has handed the chairmanship of the Hospice Dinner Dance Committee over to Dr Petrina Flood. During Liam’s time as Chairman, the Dinner Dance Committee raised a staggering £400,838 for the Southern Area Hospice. Liam, who has been assisted by the other members of the dance committee, has been the driving force behind what has become one of the highlights in the Southern Area Hospices annual events calendar.
Majella Gollogly, Fundraising Manager said, “We are truly grateful to Liam for his enthusiasm and commitment over the past ten years. The amount of time and effort that Liam has given to the Dinner Dance Committee over the past decade is clearly evident in the phenomenal amount that the event has raised in that time. On behalf of everyone at the Southern Area Hospice I would like to congratulate Liam on this success and sincerely thank him for his contribution to the Hospice over the years. I would also like to thank all the other members of the committee for their efforts and to all the businesses and patrons that continue to support this wonderful event.”
The date for the forthcoming 2012 Annual Dinner Dance has been set for Friday 23rd March 2012 in the Canal Court Hotel and will have a ‘Black & White’ theme. It is hoped for 2012, the wider business community will include the dinner dance as one of their corporate events to show their support for the hospice and the vital role it plays in the community. Tables and tickets can be reserved by contacting Rachel Quinn at the Hospice Fundraising Office directly on (028) 3025 1333.
